About the 2010 Distinguished Lectureship:
A health care professional’s ability to connect, be present with and motivate patients is highly correlated with his or her own mind/body state and career satisfaction. Dr. Haramati will discuss the importance of training health professionals (and ultimately all professionals) in integrative medicine techniques, its impact on patient outcomes and the evidence base behind this recommendation. With the high prevalence of emotional exhaustion and burnout among health care providers, especially primary care practitioners, and a health care system that struggles with delivering patient- centered care, it is essential that health professionals are trained to embody personal mind/body health skills.
